Who We Are
Friends of Narberth Green Initiatives (FONGI) was established as an independent nonprofit in 2023 to raise money in support of the borough’s environmental sustainability goals.
We want to make Narberth Borough a leading municipality in environmental responsibility. We will help fund initiatives that matter, such as implementing Narberth’s Master Park Plan, planting trees, and offering rebates for residential heat pumps. Over
the next few years, FONGI will partner with the Narberth Borough government to make these initiatives a reality.
To date, we have already received two substantial donations to fund our initiatives, and we welcome all contributions, large and small. All gifts are fully tax-deductible because of our
501(c)(3) status. Please consider donating today:
Meet the FONGI Board

“Narberth has long been a leader in environmental sustainability. We have been a walkable train village since our founding in 1895. Our Shade Tree Commission has planted over 500 trees to expand our tree canopy. NarbEarth Day has been running for over 35 years. In 2018, we were the first Pennsylvania town to pass a ban on single-use plastic bags and straws. We formed an Environmental Advisory Council and adopted a Climate Action Plan in 2020. We have installed public EV chargers for residents and electrified much of the municipal fleet. We have saved the land between Indian Creek and the Narberth tunnel to create Elm Grove Park. We adopted a gas-powered leaf blower ordinance in 2026. With your support, we can help Narberth continue to lead.”

Since retiring, I have focused on the environment by participating on the Narberth Environmental Advisory Council and my current role with FONGI works to support the preservation of our green spaces. I believe the FONGI provides all residents the opportunity to invest in supporting the greening of the borough.”

“As a retired environmental and mass transportation attorney, I am actively involved in caring for the stream in Narbrook Park, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I am also supporting the Peter Grove Pollinator Program in Lower Merion and Narberth which is being implemented by Riverbend. A strong advocate for pesticide- and herbicide-free gardening, the preservation of open space, and the reduction of light pollution, I am pleased to support and promote FONGI’s mission in Narberth.”
